Where do I start to find help?
The first step is to reach out and ask questions. There are professionals all around: hospital staff, doctors, and carers who are all willing to lend an ear and give advice. Asking for guidance is not a sign of weakness. These professionals deal with independent senior care daily and can guide you on services that are needed, warning signs, recovery and duration etc.
How can I help my aging parents?
Everyone grows older and strength and capacity may diminish as we do. Realizing your parents need help, as they age, is the first step. Secondly, observe the tasks they need assistance with eg. bathing, cooking, and cleaning. Having a reference for what they need help with enables you to search for a solution.
Lastly, ask for help! This is a very common problem, and all adults experience this with their parents. There is support available! For meals, in-home meals are available. If loneliness is the culprit, reaching out to care facilities, community centers or faith-based organizations will help.

How do I find the right caregiver for my parents?
We start with a telephone call or in-person Zoom call to chat about the situation and circumstances. Thereafter, we schedule a free home visit, to guide us on the details and how to best provide in-home care for your parents.
I live out of State, how will I know what the progress is?
All tasks and progress notes are noted down daily by the carer and kept for our records. We’ll update the relevant next of kin every month on the progress of the care. When changes to the care plan are needed, Jay’s Legacy makes immediate contact to discuss and decide on a way forward.
Pricing
How much does in-home care cost?
Our costing is calculated per hour and is customized to each situation. The exact amount depends on factors like location, type of diagnosis, scope of the care, and frequency of care.
What is the minimum commitment?
3 hour shifts and a minimum of 6 hours per week is the minimum.
We suggest a shift schedule of no less than three hours for independent senior care, as this provides a regular check-in by the carer to note progress or significant changes and to act on them.
Is there a commitment to care for a certain length of time?
No. We suggest being flexible about time frames, as they might change and are dependent on various factors.
If only one aspect is attended to, the chances of overall healing diminish.

Do insurance companies pay for in-home care?
Unfortunately not. However, Jay’s Legacy Home Care can customize a package suited to your budget.
Can we decide to stop the service whenever we want to?
Yes. Should the individual recover to a degree that tasks can be managed alone, the service can be canceled. A cooling down period is encouraged to allow the individual to regain strength. Care is best minimized systematically until tasks can be handled independently. Advanced notice of cancellation is appreciated.

What services does Jay’s Legacy Home Care provide?
Jay’s Legacy Home Care provides holistic solutions for in-home care, meaning our offering encompasses daily life. Our service includes, but is not limited to personal care, health monitoring, meal and nutritional guidance, general duties, grocery shopping and errands, transport and social companionship.

What services does Jay’s Legacy Home Care not provide?
Jay’s Legacy Home Care is non-medical and we do not take on clients who require wound care, catheter or colostomy care, transfer devices and other complicated medical situations. We’re happy to refer you to a suitable care partner.
Armed with as much information as possible, we match a suitable carer for you. One caregiver, if possible, is assigned to the person, to build a relationship and provide consistency to the in-home care.
Caregivers are introduced to the family and their loved ones, at the time they begin services. Jay’s Legacy will not send a staff member in cold.
How is scheduling handled?
Once the best caregiver is identified, we schedule the visits, tasks and timeline with her. Our caregivers built these home visits into her schedule and we communicate the schedule with you, to ensure everyone is on the same page.
What skills do the caregivers have?
Our caregivers all have caregiving experience, as independent senior carers, and first aid training. They’re able to perform all the tasks listed here and have valid drivers licenses with insurance. Because we provide customized care, for a variety of situations, our carers are trained in different diagnoses. This enables us to match a caregiver to each environment, to best match the need and the skills.
What is your process for selecting caregivers?
Jay’s Legacy Home Care vet all applicants by looking into their background, skills, training and expertise. Training is provided for new carers and our existing staff take great care in offering guidance/tips for the newer carers, based on their own experience.
Jay’s Legacy Home Carers are not dumped in the deep end and expected to swim. We offer council and direction throughout, to all staff members.
How quickly can in-home care services begin?

How are emergencies handled?
All staff are trained to call 911 in emergencies and are made aware of the client’s code status. Then, a supervisor and emergency contacts are notified immediately.
Do you provide medical services?
Our carers are all highly committed individuals, they are trained to conduct first aid – however, they are not medical professionals and we do not provide medical services.
